April..new work

Sixteen Circles is inspired by the colours and techniques of my last two pieces.. ‘Sense of Proportion and ‘Silver Morning’ . I wanted to explore the idea of concentric circles which continue my themes of abstraction, landscapes and self…for example the top row contains a ‘little river ‘ ( translation of my daughter’s name..Ria ) and a grey/blue iris much like my own. There are other similar references which are personal to me but , as I have discovered , the viewer bring their own experiences and interpretations which are far more interesting …
The piece is textile. .using recycled clothing, fabric samples, wire, old maps, offcuts of wrapping paper etc. My next step is to make ceramic versions including pendants…and to finish ‘Silver Morning’ in textile whilst my kiln is out of action.
