‘Florence Reconstructed’

0353CE1B-2393-4C45-972D-23771972C169The ceramic assemblage of my vision of Florence ( see previous post) is now finished. This photo collage has details of the Venetian smalti  or handmade mosaic tiles incorporated to represent the River Arno . We stayed on its banks in January and I see it as the bloodstream of the city .. hence the beautiful and expensive tiles flowing through my work . It also features wooden lasts for the handmade leather shoes crafted there and reference to the violin maker and historic marbled paper made in the city. Have you visited ? Would love to hear your comments …
